Anoushka Shankar

Anoushka is an American British sitarist and musician. She is the youngest woman and also the first woman to be awarded the British House of Commons shield. Anoushka Shakar is a promising young rising singer on Indian Sitar is Anoushka. She is the daughter of Ravi Shankar and a former student. Her birthplace was in London in 1982, and was a young girl who travelled between London as well as New Delhi. When she was only 13 the first time she performed at New Delhi took place. Then she moved to Encinitas CA she attended high school and graduated with distinction in the year 1999. Although she is still very young Anouskha has an impressive performing and recording career. She performs regularly together with her dad, and has done so for a long time years. In 1998, she debuted her first single album Anourag. It was followed by the album Live At Carnegie Hall, a Grammy-nominated album a year following. Stage performance is a significant part of her work. She's performed at many famous venues around the world. Anoushka isn't just a performer. Bapi the Love of My Live, a picture-biography that is dedicating to her dad Ravi Shankar was published in 2002. Also, in movies in 2003. She played the role in the film Dance Like a Man where she portrays the role of a teenage Bharat Natyam dancer. Anoushka is continuing to advance on her path and we can expect many other things to be expected from this amazing woman. At the age of 9 She began studying the piano with her father. Her debut performance on the Sitar was at her 75th Birthday celebration in Delhi in the year following. Anoushka was able to gain a great deal of knowledge by traveling the world with the father. She appeared at Carnegie Hall in her teenage time, and also recorded at George Harrison's WOMAD Festival. She was the first woman to receive the House of Commons Shield, given by the British Parliament to recognize her talent and musicianship within music and the Asian Arts.
